Work is gradually progressing on my rain barrel. Having painted wall murals was good training for this! The resin material requires doing a series of thin layers of acrylic paint... thicker paint would chip off... and very little water.
Each coat must be completely dry before adding the next, or it will wipe off the previous paint. I learned the hard way a long time ago that haste really does make waste!
I remember when I first started painting murals that I would add too much water, and have to catch the drips running down the walls.
